KINDLE

Kindle Registration

  • If you have never registered your Kindle, you should see “Setup my Kindle” on the Home screen
  • Follow the prompts to connect to Wi-Fi and register your Kindle

Tip: Press the Keyboard button to bring up and close the on screen Keyboard and use the Next and Previous Page buttons to alternate between tabs within the keyboard

  • If you are changing registration, or exited “Setup my Kindle” Press the Menu button and select “Settings” using the 5-way controller
  • Select “register” and follow the on-screen instructions
  • When you register your Kindle, enter your Amazon.com user name and password (the e-mail address and password associated with your Amazon account) using the keyboard
  • Move the 5-way controller to select “OK”

Kindle Touch or Kindle Paperwhite Registration

  • From the Home screen, tap the Menu button. Tap Settings, then Registration
  • If you already have an Amazon account: Tap this option. Enter the e-mail and password associated with your Amazon account Tap Register. Your name will appear as the Registered User when registration is complete
  • If you do not have an Amazon account: Select this option and follow the on screen instructions to set up a new account

Tip: Tap the 123 key to display the numbers and symbols keyboard. Tap the Shift key (up arrow) to enter uppercase characters

De-register Kindle Touch or Kindle Paperwhite

From the Home screen, tap the Menu button. Tap Settings, then Registration. Tap the Deregister button. You’ll then be able to register your Kindle Touch to another Amazon account

Kindle Keyboard Registration

  • Move the 5-way controller down until “Settings” is underlined and press to select
  • Press the 5-way controller to select “register” or “deregister” from the Settings screen. If you don’t have an Amazon.com account, you will be prompted to create one
  • When you register your Kindle, enter your Amazon.com user name and password (the e-mail address and password associated with your Amazon account) using the keyboard
  • Move the 5-way controller to select “OK”

Tip: If your Amazon user name or password contains characters or numbers not present on the Kindle keyboard, press the Symbol key to see a menu of additional characters

Kindle DX Registration

  • If you are not already on the Home screen, press the Home button
  • Press the Menu button. Make sure that Whispernet is turned on
  • Move the 5-way down until “Settings” is underlined and press to select
  • Press the 5-way to select “register” or “deregister” from the Settings screen
  • If you’re registering Kindle, enter your Amazon.com user name and password (the e-mail address and password associated with your Amazon account) using the keyboard
  • Navigate the 5-way to select “OK” to finish the process or “Cancel” to abort

Tip: If your Amazon user name or password contains characters not present on the Kindle keyboard, press the Symbol key to see a menu of additional characters. You can also register or deregister your Kindle on the Manage Your Kindle page

Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD Registration

  • From the Home screen, tap the Quick Settings icon
  • Tap the More icon, then My Account
  • Tap the Register button
  • Tip: Tap the 123!? key to enter numbers or symbols. Tap the ABC key to return to the regular keyboard. Tap the Shift key (up arrow) for upper case letters. Tap the box next to Show password to display your password as you type
  • Tap the Register button when finished. Your name will appear as the registered user when registration is complete

De-register Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD

When registering your Kindle Fire, you may see a “deregister” instead of “register” option. This means your Kindle Fire is already registered to another account. This may happen if you received your new Kindle Fire as a gift. Select “deregister” to register your Kindle Fire to your Amazon account instead

Registering Amazon.com account

If you don’t already have an Amazon.com account, you can create one at www.amazon.com/myk. Here’s how:

  • On the sign-in screen, enter the e-mail address you want to use for your Amazon.com account. This e-mail address will be the one we use to send you updates about your orders
  • Don’t enter a password. Check the button next to “No, I am a new customer” and then click the Sign in using our secure server button to continue
  • Enter your name and verify your e-mail address on the Registration screen
  • Enter a password for your new account and click the Continue button. We’ll ask you to enter the same password twice to make sure it is correct (You might also want to write your login information so you’ll have it later)
  • Visit the Manage Your Kindle page. Enter the serial number for your Kindle and click the Register a new Kindle button. You’ll find Kindle’s serial number on the outside of the box or on the Settings menu on your Kindle

If you’re unable to locate Kindle’s serial number, don’t worry. You’ve successfully created an Amazon.com account and can now register your Kindle wirelessly following the Registering Your Kindle instructions above

NOOK

Nook Simple Touch (GlowLight), Nook Color & Nook Tablet Registration

  • Review the Terms of Service, and tap Accept
  • Select your time zone, and tap Next
  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  • To register your NOOK Simple Touch and to purchase and download books and periodicals, you must be connected to a Wi-Fi network. You may connect to your home Wi-Fi-or-if you’re in a Barnes & Noble bookstore, your NOOK Simple Touch will connect automatically to Barnes & Noble’s free in-store Wi-Fi network; and it will also connect for free to any of over 24,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots. If you’re in another location with Wi-Fi access, your NOOK Simple Touch will list all the networks it finds. Just tap on the name of the network you want to connect to. If you see a lock symbol beside the network’s name, it’s a secure network. You’ll need to enter a password to connect to that network. If you do not know the network password, ask the network administrator for help
  • Register your NOOK Simple Touch
  • You must register your NOOK Simple Touch to your BN.com account. This gives you access to all the books and periodicals in your Barnes & Noble library and allows you to shop for new books and periodicals on your NOOK Simple Touch

Note: You will need to connect to a Wi-Fi network to complete your registration

If you already have a BN.com account:

  1. Tap the Sign In button
  2. Enter the email address and password for your account
  3. Tap Submit

If you do not yet have a BN.com account:

  1. Tap the Create an Account button
  2. Fill in the form with your name, email, password and additional information requested
  3. Tap Submit

If you do not have a Google Account, create one

An email address that you use for any of the following counts as a Google Account:

  • Gmail
  • YouTube
  • Google Apps
  • AdWords
  • Any other Google product

When you sign in with a Google Account, all the email, contacts, Calendar events, and other data associated with that account are automatically synced with your tablet.

Note: If you have multiple Google Accounts, you can add the others later
